About us —
Connect Baptist Church – Deagon gathers on Brisbane’s northside every Sunday at 9am. We started as a new church family in 2012 after Sandgate Baptist Church and Geebung Baptist Church merged together and moved into their new building at 21 Braun St, Deagon. We are associated with and committed to the Queensland Baptist Movement.

Our values —
Here at Connect, our hope and desire is that we would all continue to become people of love. As we journey together, we aspire to the following values —
-
That we would seek and know God personally and deeply (Ps 63:1-5)
-
That we would worship God with all that we are (Rom 12:1)
-
That we would imitate Christ (Eph 5:1-2)
-
That we would be devoted to one another in love (Rom 12:9-13)
-
That we would build up Christ’s Church through service and the use of our gifts (Eph 4:11-16)
-
That we would love our community enough to “go” and make disciples (Matt 28:18-20)
-
That we would show love and acceptance to the vulnerable in our community (Matt 6:2-3)
At Connect, we feel it’s not only important to highlight what we believe, but also who we are and how we live as disciples of Jesus.
What we believe —
*
What we believe — *
-
We believe in the divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments.
-
We believe in the existence of one God in three persons ‑ the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Three distinct “persons” yet one God, indivisible.
God is self-existent, having no beginning or end, surpassing this world’s thinking or composition. God is omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent.
The deity and incarnation of the Lord Jesus Christ; who is the Son of God, the second person in the Holy Trinity.
-
We believe in the divine ordinance of communion.
Communion is a memorial of the sacrifice of the body and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, to be observed until He comes again.
-
We believe in the divine ordinances of baptism. Baptism is normally the immersion of believers (Mark 1:9,10 and Acts 8:36-38) upon the profession of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and a symbol of the fellowship of the regenerate in His death, burial and resurrection.
-
We believe that all mankind is fallen, sinful and separated from relationship with God.
The salvation of believers from the penal consequences and power of sin through the perfect obedience of the Lord Jesus Christ and His atoning death, resurrection from the dead, ascension to the right hand of the Father and His unchanged priesthood.
The essential work of the Holy Spirit is in the conviction of mankind of sin, in the regeneration, sanctification and preservation of believers to the heavenly kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit equips and empowers us to be the body of Christ in our community and world.
In the necessity of repentance towards God, and of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in order to receive salvation.
-
We believe in the resurrection of the dead, and the final judgment of all persons by the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Return of Christ will be personal and visible and will signal the beginning of a new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21)
-
We believe that God’s desire and commandment is for marriage to be between one man and one woman. That the optimal nurture and developmental needs of children are met through having both a father (male) and mother (female) role model. (Genesis 1:27,28; 2: 18-25 and Ephesians 5:21-6:4.)
That this best occurs within the boundaries of a committed marriage relationship when both parents (man and woman) are committed to following Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. (Ephesians 5:21-6:4.)
Alternative sexual practice including orientation and sex outside of marriage (including de facto relationships), are incompatible with God’s desire and commandments and therefore are opposed to our beliefs and values. As such they are a barrier to church membership and specific ministry roles.
